NUR 218P Behavioral Health Nursing Practicum
This practicum allows the student to focus on the practice of therapeutic communication and evidence-based practice in the care of clients with behavioral health issues at primary, secondary, and tertiary settings. The nursing process guides nursing care, with emphasis on collaborative, interprofessional, and person-centered care. The student will reflect on their own personal biases to provide culturally relevant care with respect for patient values and preferences. The student will apply their knowledge of social determinants of health to serve as a patient advocate, provide health education, and provide direct care to patients with behavioral health issues, substance use disorders, and geriatric clients. This practicum is aligned with Behavioral Health.
