2025–26 Global Outreach Service Opportunities:
RAM (Remote Area Medical)
RAM provides a stateside immersion experience focused on providing free health, dental and vision services to underserved communities in the Appalachia region of Virginia. The College participates in weekend-long experiences in Emporia, Grundy, and Warsaw, Virginia.
The Tangier Island Experience
The Tangier Island Experience allows the student the opportunity to spend three days learning about life and health care on this three-mile island located in the Chesapeake Bay with a population of just under 600 residents. Students will learn about the lifestyle of the ‘watermen,’ interact with residents at the island clinic and in Wednesday evening services, as well as explore the culture of this unique island and its rich history. Students will learn about health care on the island and how it has evolved over the past few decades.

Move Mountains Medical Mission — Health Wagon
Students selected for this team will spend a long weekend in Wise, Virginia. They will have an opportunity to provide health care at one of area’s largest events held throughout the year. Students and faculty will work alongside hundreds of volunteers to provide medical and dental assistance to the people of Southwest Virginia. There will also be an opportunity to explore the surrounding communities when not in clinic.

Bon Secours Community Works — Baltimore, Maryland
Students and faculty will work alongside our BSMH partners in the local community. Activities will range from health fairs, community clean up, to assisting with vocational learning opportunities. When not working with Community Works, students will spend time at the Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center exploring the grounds and reflecting on experiences from the day.

Dove Youth Development, Dominican Republic
The goal of this international service trip is for students to immerse themselves in another culture and provide nursing care to those in need. During this weeklong experience, students will provide assessments and health screenings on school aged children, provide educational sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and other developmental needs in collaboration with the Dove Youth Development school. There will be social activities with the school children and visits to the surrounding barrios (neighborhoods).

Spring Break Immokalee and North Miami, Florida
Students selected for this trip will immerse themselves in the Haitian Population of Immokalee and North Miami. Students will collaborate with local partners to provide wellness care, health fairs, and various community service needs to the community. Students will prepare by studying common health issues of the Haitian population and learn the basic language.
