Global Outreach and Study Abroad
The purpose of Global Outreach is to cultivate servant leaders who are passionate about bringing people and communities to health and wholeness and support the mission of Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON). BSMCON offers several Global Outreach opportunities throughout each academic year that provide a variety of mission-based experiences that include providing health care services in remote areas, exploring social determinants of health, supporting various community service activities, teaching basic health and nutrition concepts, and much more. Students will receive communication on upcoming opportunities each Fall and Spring via student email, social media, academic advising, and various in-person and virtual information sessions. These student communications will include information about course affiliation, application timelines, travel itineraries, academic requirements, and associated costs. Since most Global Outreach experiences are affiliated with an academic course, there is assigned coursework in which a grade will be issued, and Tuition and Fees (including specific Travel Fees) will be assessed to the Registration Bill. Global Outreach experiences are subject to all Finance policies, including ADM 4.05 Student Accounts and ADM 5.01 Financial Refund. Students are encouraged to meet with the Financial Aid Office to understand which Financial Aid fund sources may be utilized for Tuition, Fees, and Travel Fees for Global Outreach experiences.
