Restricted Need-Based Scholarships

Sophie Guillot Excellence in Nursing Scholarship: This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Sophie Guillot, a 2016 graduate of Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing and a clinical instructor at Bon Secours Southside College of Health Sciences, to perpetuate her love of nursing and compassionate caring. This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled full-time with demonstrated financial need, a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrated participation in community service initiatives.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship: The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a need-based charity dedicated to the support of Christian women in nine southeastern states. Eligible students must be female, embrace a Christian faith and reside in one of the following Southern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

LeReve Mallory Peluso Scholarship: Established in memory of St. Mary’s Hospital nurse LeReve Mallory Peluso, by her family. Applicants should be interested in newborn nursery care, be a junior or senior, meeting the requirements of Satisfactory Academic Progress, and have a demonstrated financial need.

Edna Marie Reader Nursing Scholarship: This scholarship was established to honor Edna’s memory by her children. Edna was a career certified nursing assistant (CNA). The donors wish for preference to be given to students with financial need, CNAs seeking their BSN, and single parents.

The John J. Wolak Memorial Nursing Scholarship:
Patty Wolak is a grateful family member. Her husband, John, passed away in October 2023 at the Bon Secours Hospice House after receiving care at St. Mary's for many years. She established this scholarship in his memory to honor the compassionate they received while under Bon Secours care. She is especially interested in palliative/end of life care and compassionate nursing excellence.
